Biography
John Frederick Lampe
John Frederick Lampe was a composer and musician, who lived in England from 1724. He wrote English opera in a defiance of the styles of Italian opera at the time, such as Handel made popular. One notable work is his mock opera Pyramus and Thisbe which he wrote in 1745, adapting the tale from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in order to directly critique Italian opera.
