Dan Goggin moved from Alma, Michigan to New York City to study as a classical countertenor. His professional debut was in the Tony Award-winning production of Luther on Broadway. Goggin began working in a comic folk-duo called 鈥淭he Saxons鈥� and found a love for writing. He developed scores for the off-Broadway musical Hark!, and the Broadway production of Legends. Goggin composed music and lyrics for revues that would satirize current events and celebrity personalities.

His greatest success would come from his production of Nunsense. In his childhood, Goggin attended a school run by the Marywood Dominican Sisters and studied as a seminarian. He created a line of greeting cards that featured a nun with funny quips on the front. This caught on so quickly, Goggin decided to develop a cabaret show featuring comedic nuns entitled The Nunsense Story. It had a successful 38-week run at the Manhattan Duplex, which led Goggin to expand upon the idea and transform the show into a full length production.

Nunsense premiered in 1985 and would become one of the largest off-Broadway commercial successes of all time. The show ran for 3,672 performances and was translated into 21 languages. Goggin鈥檚 smash hit sparked six sequels including Nunsense 2: The Second Coming, Sunset Boulevard, and Sister Amnesia鈥檚 Country Western Nunsense Jamboree. Goggin even created an all-male drag version of Nunsense entitled Nunsense A-Men!. Following his success, Goggin continues to write books, music, and lyrics for musicals. His recent productions include A One-Way Ticket to Broadway and *Balancing Act. *
