The Children and Adults Theatrical Studio (C.A.T.S.) has been a part of the Lubbock community theater scene since 1994. Using education to teach children and adults about the magic of theater for more than 20 years has been our consistent goal, and we have been lucky enough to work with many talented actors of all ages.

We have worked to further community development by producing the free events of Melodrama in the Park (now indoors) and Shakespeare in the Park for the city of Lubbock for many years. C.A.T.S. Playhouse has produced shows with and for children, as well as, fun, mysterious, and simply sublime performances by many different actors. We have also been a key part in helping get the endowment for the Texas Tech Theatre Department’s Jia Hua Scholarship. We support local high school theater departments by encouraging participation in UIL one act competition and provide space for them to prepare for the competition.

In addition, we work with local playwrights to help them stage their shows for the first time (a requirement before publication), as a way of promoting and supporting the local community scene.
