Despite composing at least six other works, so far the only complete manuscript to have been found for any of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint George鈥檚 works for stage is this one: L鈥橝mant Anonyme. It is thought to have been composed for the private theatre of Madame de Montesson, one of Chevalier鈥檚 patrons, in around 1780. It is based on the play Madame de Genlis, by French playwright St茅phanie F茅licit茅 de Genlis, and was adapted for the opera by Fran莽ois-Georges Fouques Deshayes, better known as 鈥楧esfontaines鈥�. It is likely that the role of Dorothee was written for Madame de Montesson,
