Junie B. Jones: The Musical begins, and we are introduced to our protagonist, the title character, Junie B. Jones herself. She is about to start the first grade at the Clarence Somebody or Other Elementary School, and she enjoys life with her parents and baby brother Ollie. Clad with her new notebook, Junie B. is ready to write in it all of her adventures (鈥淭op Secret Personal Beeswax鈥�).

Junie B. is ready to start her first grade adventure, when all of a sudden she gets butterflies in her stomach and isn鈥檛 able to face her educational fate. Then, Junie B. runs into her best friend from last year, Lucille, a prim and proper well-dressed girl. Junie B. is beyond excited to see a friendly face, but Lucille announces to Junie B. that she has moved on and has become best friends with Camille and Chenille, twins whose names rhyme with Lucille and who are wearing the same dress in different colors.
