Context
This is the final scene in the play; He is 93 and She is 88. They have been contractually bound to each other as lovers for thirty years. Throughout this time, they have recorded their conversations and She has typed up the transcripts of the tapes. He has been checking the papers, gently mocking her for insisting on using a typewriter and then faxing the papers through to a publisher. She is anxiously waiting for the publisher鈥檚 response, hoping it will be favorable. She believes their

START: HE: There are three 鈥榥s鈥� in cunnilingus.
SHE: [Direct to the audience} It is dawn, 2010.
[She looks at him]
What time is it?
[She peers at her watch]
Five. Nearly five.
HE: Did anything come through on the fax?

END: SHE: [Direct to the audience] The now have several grandchildren between them.
[Dawn, sunlight seeping through the blinds. SHE crosses the room, opens them, revealing a beautiful irrigated garden. SHE stands, looking out.]
They live in separate houses in the same city on the west coast of America.
[HE joins her, standing looking out next to each other]
HE: [Direct to the audience] They speak by phone nearly every day they are not in rooms together.
[They look at one another]
She is 88.
SHE: He is 93.
