Context
Regina Wade, an African-American woman, is suing Arthur Golden (a wealthy white man) for defamation and the resulting financial loss. Her lawyer, Mr. Lawton, has her recount the events surrounding Mr. Golden鈥檚 accusation that she took his watch, and how she believes his influence at a law firm (her biggest client) caused her to lose that account. This loss resulted in her losing her business completely.
