Context
Father Jack is still recovering from his bout of malaria, after returning home to Ireland from a leper colony in Uganda. His sisters are all concerned about his health and his state of mind. Kate, the eldest sister, has been insisting that he gets out in the fresh air for exercise and recuperation.
