Context
Grusha is on the run. After a military coup resulted in the beheading of the Governor, the Governor鈥檚 Wife fled and left her child behind. Grusha, who encountered the child completely by chance, feels a moral responsibility to care for him. However, the child - who Grusha calls 鈥淢ichael鈥� - is the son of the Governor, and the rebelling military is on the hunt for him as well. Grusha therefore takes Michael and flees into the Northern Mountains, hoping to find refuge with her brother, Lavrenti,
