Context
Lulu is in jail for murdering Alva鈥檚 father, and she is broken out of prison with the help of a woman named Geschwitz, who is madly in love with her. She has contracted cholera and is brought to Alva. She manipulates Alva into falling in love with her. Alva doesn鈥檛 seem upset that Lulu killed his father, and vows to love her and protect her.. They kiss on the same piece of furniture where his father was killed, before eventually running away to Paris.
