Context
Blue is the owner of a jazz club in Detroit called Paradise Club. He plays the trumpet in a band he leads, but he feels like he鈥檚 lost his gift. The city of Detroit is pressuring him to sell his club, but he can鈥檛 decided whether he should sell or hold on to the legacy his father began. His woman Pumpkin finds him struggling to stay sane and she tries to comfort him. Despite her efforts, Blue may be too far gone to save his club, his relationship or himself.

Blue: Don鈥檛 clap for that. Don鈥檛 ever clap for that.
Pumpkin: But...it was good.
Blue: Mediocre. I lost my rhythm. Let it take over. Ain鈥檛 never s鈥檖ose to let it take over.
