Jonas is a 12-year-old boy selected to become his society鈥檚 next Receiver of Memory. The Receiver is responsible for keeping memories of what the world was like before Sameness, a condition society imposed that eliminated feelings, emotion, and color. During training, the current Receiver, now called The Giver, has imparted all of his memories to Jonas, opening his eyes to a world of immense beauty but also pain.
