Context
Milt, Val, and Lucas are comedy writers on the popular variety show The Max Prince Show. Just two weeks into a temporary contract, Lucas is the youngest and least experienced writer. The flashy Milt, whose specialty is cheap jokes in bulk, has been giving Lucas advice about how to get noticed. Val, a Russian immigrant, enters the writers room. Milt and Val do not get along. Val does like Lucas and is protective of the young writer.

Milt: He鈥檚 right. Hey, Luke. Put two lousy words down on paper. (Into phone) Collette? Milt. Listen, babe. We鈥檒l have to cancel tonight. It鈥檚 my wife鈥檚 birthday. Unless I can convince her she鈥檚 wrong.
