Context
The Herald now introduces the first conversation between Corday and Duperret in the inner play. They are both played by inmates of the asylum. Corday moves in a dreamlike state, while Duperret is obsessed by sex and the body. In the play, Duperret questions Corday about her plans to murder Marat but the patient playing him is more interested in putting his hands all over her body. The Herald acts as both narrator and prompt throughout the scene.
