Context
Michael is an Irish immigrant living in England with his English wife, Betty. At Michael鈥檚 invitation, three of his younger brothers, Hugo, Iggy, and Harry, have come to live with them. Betty resents the brothers鈥� brutish behavior and the fact that Michael makes excuses for them. Harry is especially demeaning towards her, referring to her as 鈥淓nglish Polly鈥�. Even as Betty laments that having his brothers there means they can鈥檛 have a real life together as husband and wife, Michael insists that
