Context
Rene is a damaged Mexican-American young man who lives with his family in El Paso, Texas. He gets home late one night after getting into a fight on the street. Misha, his little brother, enters and sees his bloody fist and asks him what happened, unsurprised that he鈥檚 been fighting because it鈥檚 something Rene does all the time. Rene recalls the fight, in which he and his friends beat up some gay G.I.s with baseball bats, and Misha tries to convince him to quit fighting and go to college or get
