Context
In this opening scene of the play, Rosaura and the Fife enter through the mountains, their horses scared away by the thunderstorm. Rosaura is in disguise, traveling dressed as a boy so that she may get revenge on someone (his identity is a mystery). Unfortunately, the Fife keeps forgetting to call Rosaura "master," and so is at risk of exposing who she is. While they talk, Segismund enters, chained and tethered to the rocks around them.
