LAURA
Promise me. I don鈥檛 want trouble anymore. She accuses me of trying to come between you. Seems she doesn鈥檛 want to see me with you and she doesn鈥檛 want you to see me without her.
(Laura鈥檚 voice rises and eyes widen.)
SHE CAN鈥橳 HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. Either come out with you or stay home and you come out like you did today.
PETER
That鈥檚 because she wants me all to herself. She鈥檚 obsessed. You don鈥檛 know her like I do and what she鈥檚 capable of.
LAURA
Dad, it鈥檚 your life. It鈥檚 ridiculous. I鈥檓 just so sick of the nonsense.
PETER
Well, just try to bear with me. Do it for me, will you?
LAURA
What does it look like I鈥檝e been doing all along? I鈥檓 sick of walking on eggs. It鈥檚 not right. We both know she doesn鈥檛 want a relationship with me.
PETER
Give it time. She鈥檚 wonderful if you get to really know her. She just wants respect.
