CINDERELLA
(Returning to her chores with ashamed urgency)
See where your livestreaming got us?
RUNKA
I apologize. I thought...if I could find you an audience for your voice and your rhymes
CINDERELLA
Well you can’t. The galaxy’s lost its mojo, remember?
(She does her chores.)
And so have I.
RUNKA
You don’t mean that.
CINDERELLA
I do mean it.
(Runka retrieves their phone and tries to hold it up, but can’t; some part of them is malfunctioning.)
Next time, keep your head down when I tell you to. You’re just asking for trouble.
RUNKA
(Lamely swinging around a limp arm, or else examining some piece of robotics attached to themself)
They have broken me.
CINDERELLA
Yeah, well, you and me bo
(Runka demonstrates their literal brokenness. Cinderella looks up, sees this, and does a bit of a double-take)
Oh. You mean for real.
(Runka nods. Cinderella sighs and shifts gears.)
Come here, let me look.
(Runka approaches and Cinderella examines them gingerly.)
RUNKA
(As Cinderella assesses their damage)
You are not broken, Cinderella.
CINDERELLA
Oh yeah? Then why do I feel so...
(Cinderella pauses. She sighs.)
Hopeless.
(Cinderella returns to fixing Runka. Cue music.)
