Context
After receiving the life insurance money from her late husband, Lena (Mama) Younger put a down payment on a house. Her daughter-in-law Ruth is ecstatic, but her son Walter feels betrayed. He was hoping to use the money to invest in a liquor store venture with a friend. Throughout this scene, Ruth and Mama discuss the house, unable to hide their excitement. Walter is largely silent, hurt by what he believes is a complete disregard for his ambitions.
