Context
Mr. Zero works with Daisy Devore in the counting office of a department store. As she reads off receipt totals, he jots down the numbers in an accounting book. Throughout the scene, even though they are working, both Zero and Daisy fantasize about a life beyond work--including each other. Zero has been loyal to his job and wants a promotion, but also wants to be rid of his wife. Daisy is in love with Zero, and imagines that he might feel the same way. Daisy: Three ninety-eight. Forty-two cents. A dollar fifty. A dollar fifty. A dollar twenty-five. Two dollars. Thirty -nine cents. Twenty-seven fifty.
Zero: (petulantly) Speed it up a little, cancha?
Daisy: What鈥檚 the rush? To-morrer鈥檚 another day.
Zero: Aw, you make me sick.
