Context
Arlene, recently paroled from prison, moved into the one-bedroom apartment her sister Candy had lived in. Ruby lives upstairs--when the two women meet, Arlene is cautious. However, Ruby tries to be helpful, and warns Arlene about people who might come by looking for Candy. She also reveals that she is an ex-con, and the women have a moment of camaraderie before Arlene puts her guard back up. Ruby: (Off banging on door, yelling.) Candy, I gotta have my five dollars back.
Arlene: Candy ain鈥檛 here!
Ruby: It鈥檚 Ruby, upstairs. She鈥檚 got five dollars I loaned her 鈥� Arlie? That Arlie? Candy told me her sister be 鈥�

Ruby: Hey Arlene! (Gives her a friendly pat.) You had your lunch yet?
