Context
Tamburlaine, the conqueror, has joined forces with Cosroe, prince of Persia, to overthrow his inept older brother, King Mycetes. The city of Persepolis has fallen, and Mycetes has escaped from the city in an attempt to hide from Tamburlaine’s wrath. This scene is a perfect example of the cowardice of the foolish king Mycetes, and also is the scene where Tamburlaine gets the seed of the idea to betray Cosroe and take the kingdom of Persia for himself.
