Context
Val misses her children terribly. She left them behind with her estranged husband when she moved in with her lover, Frank. Even though Val is with the man she loves, she is miserable without her daughters Deb and Shona. In this scene, Shona is going home after going grocery shopping for her grandmother. Val purposefully catches up with her daughter, but the little girl (only six) doesn鈥檛 seem to understand her mother鈥檚 emotional distress, and would rather try to tell jokes.
