A bloody Messerschmitt put a cannon shell in our tailplane 鈥 we went straight down in a dive 鈥 I heard Dusty on the intercom 鈥 He said 鈥 鈥業 thought I鈥檇 bought it, Skipper, but I鈥檓 all right 鈥 I鈥檓 all right!鈥
[...]
When we took off and saw that kite on fire, I didn鈥檛 think: 鈥楾here are friends of mine in that.鈥 I thought 鈥 (Slowly.) 鈥楾hat might happen to us.鈥 Not very 鈥 pretty, is it?
He recovers himself slowly, PATRICIA watching him in silence. Then he turns away _ from her.
Now you know it. Lack of moral fibre. I鈥檓 glad I told you.
