My parents never say the right thing. You can be certain鈥攐f that!
(Introducing himself)
My name is Jamal Dupr茅. And I certainly do pray鈥or other parents! Ya see, my father always tells me I鈥檓 doing things wrong and makes me do them his way. My mother whines a mile a minute. She鈥檚 a horrible cook too. Puts hot sauce in everything, even dessert. All I can say is, 鈥淵ich!鈥 It鈥檚 like they can鈥檛 help it鈥攖hey鈥檙e just naturally vicious. Man, when I compare my birth parents to my present ones, you know what鈥檚 hardest? Deciding who鈥檚 worse.
(Speak as dialogue; with hurt and anger)
ONE SET NEVER WANTED ME,
ONE SET THINKS THEY OWN ME;
ONE SET IS SUCH KNOW-IT-ALLS;
ONE SET鈥橲 NEVER KNOWN ME.
CALL THEM A PAIN,
A THORN, A NOOSE.
BURNED IN MY BRAIN
IS EACH ABUSE;
I WOULD COMPLAIN
BUT WHAT'S THE USE?
AAH, WHAT鈥橲 THE USE!
